Vía Verde Torrevieja: more than seven kilometres along the old railway.
The Vía Verde is a simple way to see another side of Torrevieja beyond the seafront. It follows the former railway that was closely linked to the city’s salt industry.
Where does the route go?
The official tourism site describes a route of more than seven kilometres heading towards Los Montesinos and the municipal boundary. The old railway remained linked to Torrevieja’s salt transport until the 1970s.
Where can you join it?
Turismo Torrevieja lists a northern access from the CV-945 and a southern access at Calle Urbano Arregui near Avenida de la Estación. The route is listed as open 24 hours.
You do not need to complete the full distance. A shorter section works well if you are combining it with the town centre, the coast or the nature park.
Who is it best for?
It suits walkers, runners and cyclists looking for a longer linear route. For sea views choose Dique de Levante or Juan Aparicio; for lagoon wildlife and interpretation, the guided Ecorutas are stronger.
