Everyday essentials

Where should you shop for groceries in Torrevieja?

For a normal holiday you usually need one big supermarket for a larger shop, a nearby store for small things and perhaps a market for produce and local products.

The easy choice

Carrefour Torrevieja is useful for a large shop with groceries and household items. Consum has several branches around the city and is often the easier option when you just need a supermarket close to where you are staying.

Opening times

Carrefour currently lists regular Monday-to-Saturday opening from 09:00 to 22:00, with selected Sunday and public-holiday openings. Do not assume Sunday hours are the same all year; check the exact branch on the day.

Weekly markets

The main Torrevieja market normally runs on Friday from 08:00 to 14:00 at Parque Antonio Soria. Official tourism information also lists a Wednesday market in La Mata on Avenida de Francia.

What about La Plasa?

Older guides can be misleading here. The municipal La Plasa market is being redeveloped in 2026 into a combined traditional market and food market. We do not treat the new gastro-market concept as finished until it actually opens.

Shopping for clothes or electronics?

That is better handled separately. Habaneras and Zenia Boulevard serve a different purpose from everyday grocery shopping.

Sources & transparency

For current information, we prefer official primary sources and clearly separate plans from changes that are already in place.
