La Mata: the simple choice for a full beach day.
If you want more sand, a long walk and more space than the central beaches, La Mata is the obvious candidate. At 2,362 metres, it is the longest beach in the municipality.

Who is La Mata good for?
La Mata works well when the beach is the main event. The larger area makes it better for long walks, beach sport and a classic day on the sand. If you want to switch constantly between the beach, old centre and promenade, Playa del Cura is more compact.
North and south
Official tourism information separates La Mata into north and south sections. La Mata Norte is closer to Torrelamata and includes the historic Torre del Embarcadero and dune-restoration areas. Molino del Agua lies in the protected southern area.
Services and families
Officially listed services include toilets, foot showers, lifeguards, restaurants, parking, walkways, sports areas and children's play areas. That makes the beach practical for families without turning it into a one-size-fits-all 'best family beach'.
Accessibility
La Mata Norte has an adapted bathing area and a reservation-based assisted bathing service listed for summer 2026. The service is subject to a green flag and should be checked before your visit.
